A 700+ acre wildfire burning west of Golden Colorado is considered only 15 percent contained as of today.

Firefighters were working to contain the east side of the blaze in order to prevent it from moving into a housing division containing approximately 250 homes. Residents there have been warned to prepare to evacuate should the fire spread closer.

US highway 6 was closed for a time due to the fire but has since reopened.

The danger of wildfire in many parts of Colorado remains high due to the dry conditions there. Fire weather watches and warnings have been issued close to the Front Range, the Eastern Plains and Southwestern Colorado.
