U.S. Handgun Purchases To Set New Record…Again.

According to the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), background-check applications for handgun purchases are on a record-setting pace so far in 2011.

Bloomberg News reports “In this year’s first quarter, the FBI’s Instant Criminal Background Check System processed 4.25 million requests on prospective gun buyers – up 16% from a year earlier.” If this pace continues, the number of firearm background checks would hit a record for a seventh straight year.
