Locust Plague Descends On Egypt – Panic In Neighboring Israel

From DailyMail.co.uk | On Monday, March 4th, 2013

As swarms of locust devour Egyptian crops, the Middle East is bracing for the destructive bugs to migrate their way ahead of the Passover holiday.

A swarm of an estimated 30million insects has been devastating crops in Egypt, fueling apocalyptic fears because of the infestation’s proximity to the Bible story of Passover in which a swarm of locusts, the eighth of ten plagues, is imposed on Egyptians by God for enslaving and abusing ancient Hebrews.

Israel’s Agriculture Ministry set up an emergency hotline today and urged residents to be vigilant in reporting sightings of the insects to prevent an outbreak.

A special task force has also been set up to help farmers manage infestations.

The locusts pass through the country as part of their normal migration from north east Sudan to Saudi Arabia, the Egyptian Agriculture Ministry said, emphasising that Egypt was just ‘a transfer station’ for the locusts, which were in larger numbers this year.

As the insects descended on agricultural farms in Giza and in Cairo, causing significant damage, fears have been raised that they could spread to Israel.

In a statement from the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations, the infestation was described as a ‘immature swarm’ which ‘appeared in the afternoon (on March 2) in the eastern Cairo districts of New Cairo and Mokattam and dispersed into several smaller swarmlets’.

The statement read: ‘The locusts originated from breeding that has been in progress since November in southeast Egypt between Berenice and the Sudanese border.

‘As vegetation dried out, small groups and swarms of immature adults moved slowly north along the Red Sea coast, reaching Marsa Alam on 8 February, Hurghada on the 16th and Zafarana on the 26th.’

As well as Israel, Lebanon and Jordan have been alerted.

In Cairo, people were burning tyres to create black smoke to deter the locust from settling and there were reports that swarms had been seen in Zafarana, about 124 miles from Cairo, on the Red Sea and in the city of Qena, where the insects have been sighted in at least three villages.

According to the Israel National News, the Egyptian Agriculture Minister Dr Salah Abd Al Mamon said: ‘Egyptian armed forces and border guards are attempting to fight the swarm with all means at their disposal.

‘I ask the families living in the locust-plagues areas not to burn tyres. This does not chase away the locusts, but only causes damage and could ignite largescale fires that would cost in lives.’

He said that strong winds were predicted in weather forecasts and he hoped that this would force the insects to migrate toward the Red Sea and Saudi Arabia. Crop duster planes were also going to be used to handle the infestation.

Egypt and Israel was infested with locust in 2004. Israeli agriculture officials sent crop dusters into the air to spray against the locusts that swept in from North Africa in the first such invasion since 1959.

Farmers in 15 out of the 27 Egyptian governorates suffered significant agricultural damage as the insects devoured crops and flowers.

This year Passover will begin on the evening of March 25 and end on the evening of April 2.

The infestation comes as a study warns that yellow-legged Asian hornets that prey on bees are among the latest non-native species threatening UK wildlife, and even people’s health.

A growing number of alien species, from killer shrimps to Spanish slugs, are set to soon reach our shores, a Europe-wide study warns.

The Asian hornet, which grows to between 2.5cm and 3cm (1-1.2 inches), preys on native honeybees, wasps and other pollinators, potentially devastating hives and threatening honey and crop production.

Richard Land on the Nation’s Spiritual Crisis…

By Billy Hallowell | From TheBlaze.com | On Friday, July 27th, 2012

Richard Land, president of The Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention

Richard Land, president of The Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention, told the audience at “Under God: Indivisible“ that America is ”at a fork in the road.”

Rather than facing a choice between going left or right, Land said that America is weighing a decision that will lead her to take an upward or a downward trajectory.

“If America dies, she’ll die from self-inflicted wounds,” he opened the speech, with the audience reluctantly agreeing. “We face a far greater peril from our own immorality and our own adultery than we ever faced from the British army or the German air force of the Japanese navy or the Soviet missile command.”

Land told the audience that the future of America depends upon “what the saved people do.” It is Christians, he said, who hold the responsibility to set the dangerous course the nation is taking back on track.

“[We face] a Titanic struggle between those who want to remake America and those who want to restore America,” Land continued. “There are some forks — once they’re taken, you can’t go back.”

The audience cheered his message on, as land reiterated the need for Christians to step up to the plate.

Judge Suggests Stripping 10 Commandments Down to 6…

By Billy Hallowell | From TheBlaze.com | On May 8th, 2012

The Ten Commandments is at the center of yet another heated debate. This time, the Virginia chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union is taking a local school district to task over the display of the Commandments inside of Narrows High School in Narrows, Virginia.

ACLU Sues Over 10 Commandments Display at Narrows High School in Virginia

Similar to the case over a prayer mural in Cranston, Rhode Island, the ACLU filed a lawsuit on behalf of a student (who, along with his or her family will remain anonymous, as per a judge’s order) who wants to see the display removed. The basis of the complaint is familiar: The presence, those opposed to it contend, illustrates a government endorsement of religion and is, thus, unconstitutional.

The Giles County School District, of which Narrows High School is a part, is being represented by Liberty Counsel, a Christian non-profit law group that is claiming that the presence of the display is, in fact, perfectly legal. The debate over the presence of the Ten Commandments began back in 2010 when the Freedom From Religion Foundation first received complaints about it. Inevitably, the ACLU got involved.

After the initial complaints surrounding the Ten Commandments, the list of moral elements to follow was apparently removed and re-posted a number of times. In the end, it was made part of a larger display of historical documents that have shaped American history, the ACLU claims.

“This action flies in the face of both strong legal precedents and our fundamental notions of what religious equality means in the United States,” the ACLU said in a national statement. ”When the government promotes one faith, whether it is through the Ten Commandments or other religious documents, it automatically diminishes all other faiths.”

But Mathew Staver, who serves as dean of Liberty University School of Law and the chairman of the Liberty Counsel, counters this argument by claiming that the Ten Commandments has every right to be displayed. Staver says that it is perfectly protected as a portion of a grander historical setting alongside the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights.

On Monday, federal Judge Michael Urbanski ordered all parties to discuss the future of the Ten Commandments in mediation. If, indeed, a solution cannot be reached, then the case will return to court. The Bluefield Daily Telegraph has more:

A federal court judge ordered mediation Monday for the parties involved in a lawsuit about whether the Ten Commandments can be displayed at a Giles County high school.

U.S. District Court Judge Michael F. Urbanski with the U.S. District Court in Roanoke ordered the Giles County School Board and the unnamed student and parent into mediation to see if a compromise can be reached over the display of the biblical texts.

The Liberty Counsel, which is representing the Giles County School Board, and the American Civil Liberties Union of Virginia, which is representing the unidentified student and parents, will meet with a magistrate judge during the mediation period. If no decision is made during mediation, the case will return to court.

But Urbanski also made a curious recommendation to help alleviate tensions and to find a potential middle ground. Rather than keeping all 10 commandments, he suggested removing the first four and simply leaving the remaining six. Why, you ask? Well, the first few codes are religious in nature, whereas the final six are far more secular.

“If indeed this issue is not about God, why wouldn’t it make sense for Giles County to say, ‘Let’s go back and just post the bottom six?’” Urbanski asked during the proceedings. ”But if it’s really about God, then they wouldn’t be willing to do that.”

We’ll have to wait and see what solution the two parties come to in the coming weeks.

New Bible Translation Replaces “Christ,” “Angel” & “Apostle”

By Billy Hallowell | FromTheBlaze.com | On April 20th, 2012

There’s a new Bible translation in town. ”The Voice,” an apparently easier-to-digest format that is aimed at reaching those individuals who may own a Bible, but who rarely or never read it, is taking some interesting avenues to help ensure that people better comprehend the Good Book.

Here’s the controversial part: The words “angel,“ ”apostle” and — “Christ” have been removed from the translation. It‘s not that these themes aren’t present in the newfound Biblical interpretation. Instead, the translators have chosen alternatives. For instance, Jesus Christ is now “Jesus the Anointed One.” The meaning is still there, but the traditional semantics have been altered.

Here’s a video that further explains the project:

CNN’s Belief Blog provides more about this new, purportedly easier-to-comprehend Biblical version:
Professor David Capes says the Bible “is probably the most owned and least read book out there. That’s because, for many, it’s too difficult to understand.”

The “own it but haven’t read it” demographic is his target market, says Capes, who teaches the New Testament at Houston Baptist University and was part of a team that compiled “The Voice,” a new translation of the King James Bible. Capes told CNN that the motivation behind the translation, seven years in the making, was to emphasize the meaning behind the words.

“‘The Voice’ considers the narrative links that help us to understand the drama and passion of story that is present in the original languages,” according to the website for the book. “The tone of the writing, the format of the page, and the directness of the dialog allows the tradition of passing down the biblical narrative to come through in ‘The Voice.’”

Rather than re-writing the Bible, those scholars and individuals behind the seven-year project apparently wanted to help readers, as The Christian Post reports, “hear God speaking.”

Despite these intentions and a major publisher — Thomas Nelson — backing the project, some critics have been railing against the translation. The Post has more about those who see the project as a disaster of Biblical proportions (pun intended):
On the website “Life More Abundant,“ poster ”Coralie” commented that the format of The Voice, which includes commentary in the body of the text, was a concern.

“The … effect of the inclusion of midstream commentary is the blurring of the line between inspired word and human opinion,” wrote Coralie.

“My fear in our postmodern world is not that a new reader would take the commentary as the very word of God, but that he would read the words of God with the casual ease of another form of commentary.”

The blog “Extreme Theology,” an apologetics website, declared that The Voice was a “distorted version of the Bible.”

Below, watch a CNN interview that further describes the process of putting “The Voice” together:

Is Iran About To Drag Us Into Armageddon?

By Rob Kerby| From Beliefnet.com

Should we be worried that Iran is about to tip the entire world into World War III? Are some folks reading far too much into all of today’s saber-rattling? Are they drawing wild conclusions from popular interpretations of Bible prophecy flying around the Internet?

Or is history’s final battle just around the corner?

Many Christians grew up hearing that the Bible foretells of one final war between Israel and many of the nations of the world. Popular interpretations of Old Testament prophecies leave little doubt that Israel – as “God’s chosen people” – will win.

Are Irans Actions Settling Groundwork for the Fulfillment of Biblical Armageddon?

The Prophet Isaiah by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo

For example, Isaiah 17 tells of a war that results in the capital of today’s revolt-torn Syria, Damascus, the world’s oldest continually inhabited city, ceasing to exist and becoming a “ruinous heap.”

So, is this the beginning of the end?

A number of Internet commentators have also thought it relevant to report odd reports in the news of strange, trumpet-like noises heard around the world, citing such scriptures such as Ezekiel 7:14: “They have blown the trumpet, even to make all ready; but none goeth to the battle: for my wrath is upon all the multitude thereof.”

They cite a number of such trumpet reports on YouTube, that do-it-yourself video website where anybody with a video camera can post their homemade news report, movie or a video of their baby dancing with their cat.

They also pass along Bible prophecy tidbits, such as a 2009 report by Campbell Robertson in the New York Times: “The Euphrates is drying up. Strangled by the water policies of Iraq’s neighbors, Turkey and Syria, a two-year drought and years of misuse by Iraq and its farmers, the river is significantly smaller than it was just a few years ago.”

Even the Times acknowledged the biblical relevance, calling the river “so crucial to the birth of civilization that the Book of Revelation prophesied its drying up as a sign of the end times.” Indeed, Revelations 16:12-14 foretells: “And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.”

But does a lack of water in Iraq’s main waterway mean Armageddon is on the horizon? And do the much-cited Bible prophecies foretell a nuclear Iran wiping Isreal off of the map? For that matter, is the Islamic Republic of Iran even mentioned anywhere in, say, Isaiah 17, Psalm 83 or Zechariah 12?

Are Irans Actions Settling Groundwork for the Fulfillment of Biblical Armageddon?

The Prophet Daniel

The prophet Daniel describes Persia as having a major role in world events. Iranians will tell you they are modern-day Persia. But there’s no Persia in such key end-of-times prophecies as Psalms 83:8, which tells us that “even Assyria has joined them; they lend support to the sons of Lot.” Assyria? It ceased to be a world power about 2,500 years ago. But, get out your atlas of the ancient world and you’ll see that it included parts of Iran.

Psalm 83 predicts defeat for those who will attack Israel, particularly those intending to “wipe her off the map.” Iran’s president, Mahmoud Amadinijad has repeatedly made that specific promise. In fact, he has repeatedly lectured the General Assembly of the United Nations during his annual addresses to that body, telling them that the Shi’ite messiah, the “Hidden Imam” is about to return to Earth to establish worldwide Islam – but cannot return until Iran has eliminated Israel.

In the Bible, the prophet Jeremiah doesn’t specifically mention Iran or Persia in his visions of the end. However, he does mention Elam – an ancient power which included Iranian territory. Jeremiah 49:34-39 says Elam will experience devastation and the scattering of her population to many other nations as a result of the same attack that devastates Damascus.

Could there actually be such a war? Is Damascus at risk?

Are Irans Actions Settling Groundwork for the Fulfillment of Biblical Armageddon?

The Prophet Jeremiah by Michaelangelo

Throughout the Cold War, a policy of “Mutual Assured Destruction” kept NATO and the USSR from going at each other with nuclear weapons. It was well understood that automatic systems and official policies were in place that would trigger a massive response– even if the attacked nation was in ashes. Had the Soviets wiped out U.S. leadership and command, the consequences would have been submarine-launched total devastation of Russia.

So why should Iran expect anything less? A senior official in Iran’s Revolutionary Guard a few days ago told a Tehran newspaper that the United States is within reach of Iranian attack. If the U.S. hits key targets in Iran to halt its nuclear weapons program, “we will have a crushing response,” said Massoud Jazayeri, quoted by Reuters, the British news agency. “We will not only act in the boundaries of the Middle East and the Persian Gulf; no place in America will be safe from our attacks.”

Surely he knows that the U.S. response to an Iranian attack – particularly a nuclear strike – would be cataclysmic. If Iran somehow managed to nuke Washington, D.C., no Russian or Chinese veto in the United Nations could prevent Tehran and every other major Iranian city from becoming smoking, radioactive ruins two or three times over. Mutual assured destruction has been U.S. policy for 50 years and even the most peace-minded leadership in the White House would have an impossible time tempering a response to a nuclear Pearl Harbor.

But Iran has indicated that they don’t fear such a fate.

Are Iran’s Leaders, Well…Crazy?” ask Kimo Quaintance and Bernd Kaussler on The Diplomat magazine’s website. “The most vocal supporters of preventative military strikes against Iran’s nuclear weapons program claim that Iran is developing nukes to use them, rather than to deter the United States and its allies from invasion.

Are Irans Actions Settling Groundwork for the Fulfillment of Biblical Armageddon?

Israel Defense Forces

“This inversion of the Cold War theory of nuclear deterrence assumes that Iran doesn’t have the capacity for rational choice. After all, as the argument goes, if the Iranians are crazy, then the certainty of national suicide won’t stop them from seizing the opportunity to unleash their new nuclear weapons on Israel.

“A state that believes the end of the world is coming (never mind thinking it has the special responsibility to usher in Armageddon) can’t be considered likely to weigh costs and benefits in any rational, self-preserving way.”

Or perhaps does Iran disbelieve the U.S. would retaliate? Just days ago, not 24 hours after Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov warned the United States that any pre-emptive strike against Iran by the U.S. or Israel would violate international law, Moscow put muscle into his warning. On April 3, the Russian guided missile destroyer Smetliviy and its support group arrived in the Syrian port of Tartus from its Black Sea base for a naval exercise.

Just the day before, the Israeli news analysis website DEBKAfile reported that Russia and Iran are set to counter any U.S. Israeli strike against Iran. Lavrov’s comments, made during a visit to Armenia, stopped short of threatening any consequences.

“But,” reported Reuters, “they backed up and were in tune with the explicit threat from Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei of strong Iranian resistance to foreign intervention in Syria and a vow to defend Damascus as the ‘center of resistance against Israel.’”

So, does Iran think Russia would protect them?

All this comes as Saudi Arabia and Qatar have established an international fund to pay a regular wage to rebel fighters in the Syrian Free Army, which is trying to depose the current pro-Iranian regime in Damascus. Meanwhile, Reuters reported that the U.S., Israel and Greece have engaged in a “shadowy air-naval exercise” in the Mediterranean codenamed “Noble Dina.”

“It appears to range across a broad sweep of sea up to Crete and including the waters off Turkey, Cyprus, and Israel Navy bases in Haifa and Ashdod ports,” reported the British news agency. The American, Israeli and Greek fleets are reportedly led by the USS Enterprise strike force and supported by a British Royal Navy flotilla.

So, are we dancing around the edge of the abyss? Is Armageddon around the corner? Internet prophecy enthusiasts are certain of it. They cite Luke 21:20, which tells us “And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.”

How about the repeated warnings from Russian and China that the U.S. should not intervene in the Syrian civil war? Or reports that the U.S., France, Great Britain, Turkey and Italy are planning to implement an aerial blockade of Damascus without United Nations backing?

Turkey? Why would anybody give any thought to Turkey? Historians would remind that Turkey was the Ottoman Empire that defeated the Crusaders and for almost 1,000 years held onto Palestine until those same former crusaders won World War I? Turkey also ruled Syria during that time period. And Iraq. And Iran.

Some who enjoy end-of-the-world debate would say that the United States is not mentioned in Bible prophesy. Others respond that a great “he goat” from the West will retaliate against the Medians (modern Syria) and Persia (today’s Iran) in the final battles. Daniel 8:5-6 foretells: “And as I was considering, behold, a he-goat came from the west on the face of the whole earth, and touched not the ground: and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes. And he came to the ram that had two horns, which I had seen standing before the river, and ran unto him in the fury of his power.”

What will be the result of such super-powers butting heads? Prophecy enthusiasts cite Isaiah 17:1, which tells us that “Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap” and Isaiah 17:3, which predicts victory for Israel: “The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the Lord of hosts.”

Isaiah 17:7 goes on to say, “At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.

They predict Ahmadinejad will hit Israel with nuclear weapons, but that Jeremiah 49:34-39 describes his failure – that any such attack will backfire and cause his own people to evacuate the smoking ruin that will be Iran.

Are Irans Actions Settling Groundwork for the Fulfillment of Biblical Armageddon?

Iran’s Mahmoud Amadinejad

Without a doubt, whether you believe in Bible prophecy or not, today the Middle East is the most keenly watched area of the world. And little wonder – it is central to the economic stability of the world. Conflicts in the Middle East inevitably draw in the major powers. As a result, for many years it has been the most likely place for World War III to begin.

Why do the superpowers care about the Middle East? The same kinds of conflict in Indonesia’s East Timor or South America’s Andes or between nations along Africa’s Great Rift seldom drag in the super-powers or prompt worries about Armageddon.

What is it about the Middle East that holds our attention? An easy answer is: Oil. The world’s economies are dependent upon Middle Eastern petroleum. After the 1973 Yom Kippur War, the Arabs used the oil weapon to devastating effect. Western economies were severely disrupted. The developed nations suffered crippling burdens of inflation, recession, debt and unemployment.

So, what’s next? The battle of Armageddon is described in part in Ezekiel 38: the prophet foresees a massive confederacy of nations invading Israel. The leader of the confederacy is called Gog of the land of Magog. Many Bible students have expected Russia to fulfill the role of Gog. Magog was an ancient name for the land of the Scythians in the southern part of what is now Russia. This invader unites other enemies against Israel.

Israel is referred to in Ezekiel 38:8 as: “The land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations.”

Ezekiel 38:5 adds that in league with Gog (Russia) will be “Persia (Iran), Ethiopia, and Libya.” Impoverished Ethiopia? A player in the final battle? In the Old Testament, “Ethiopia” often refers to the Nile valley south of Egypt, including Nubia (today’s Sudan and the new nation of South Sudan) and Abyssinia (today’s Ethiopia and Somalia). Ethiopia in Bible times was an influential country – home of the legendary Queen of Sheba.

Today, the former Ethiopian province of Somalia is frequently in the news as a collapsed state with no government. Its anarchy has spawned ruthless pirates stalking the busy shipping lanes in and out of the oil-rich Persian Gulf, constantly taking ships and crews hostage – and holding them for multi-million-dollar ransoms. And Sudan has been the site of a horrific genocide – as the Arab north has attempted ethnic cleansing of the predominantly black population of the oil-rich south — with the West and China squaring off, hoping to be the recipients of that oil.

What about Libya? This oil-rich nation for years financed worldwide terrorism and was responsible for one of the worst mass-murders of civilians, the bombing of a PanAm 747 airliner over Lockerbie, Scotland.

Jeremiah 3:17 foretells that all these enemies of Israel “shall call Jerusalem the throne of the Lord; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the Lord, to Jerusalem.” Indeed, Jerusalem is at the meeting point of three continents. Ezekiel 5:5 says: “Thus saith the Lord God; This is Jerusalem: I have set it in the midst of the nations and countries that are round about her.”

Ancient cartographers, taking this passage literally, placed Jerusalem at the center of their maps, an example of which is the famous Mappa Mundi in England’s Hereford Cathedral.

As the Daily Telegraph newspaper commented, ”It is interesting to note, in the affairs of the proposed sale of Hereford Cathedral’s Mappa Mundi, all those superior smiles at the childish medieval way it shows Jerusalem at the center of the world. But Jerusalem is the center of the world. We may be overwhelmingly reminded of this in due course – and sooner than we may think.”

Merry Christmas To All & To All A Good Night

There has been an influx of even more terrifying news from the international front in the last week…

Wondering what the next year will bring, and hoping that we get as far as the next Presidential inauguration…

I rarely leave the bathroom these days without wondering when will be the last time I ever actually get to flush the toilet or when the light switch will no longer provide light…

Putting our six year old to bed last night on Christmas Eve brought me to tears…

Her innocence is astounding as it is simple. Far reaching and joyous…complete and without question. She knows very little of the trials of the world in which she resides. My only wish is to protect her, and to keep that innocence intact for as long as I can.

This all serves to remind me that I need to enjoy every day, and never, never take for granted the time that I have with that beautiful six year old. This is a similar concept to having a terminal illness-live each day as if it is your last. Sans the terminal illness, it is a difficult concept to preach to those with their heads in the proverbial sand. But I still hope to live and share by example; therefore these words I share with you:

If you hug them, hug them closer.

If you feed them, feed them more.

If you house them, keep them warmer.

If you love them, invite them in and love them even more than you ever have.

Seven Trumpets From The Book Of Revelations

TEOTWAWKI (The End Of The World As We Know It): Often thought of as the irreversible destruction of the modern way of life due to the loss of public resources, modern methods of communication, trade and commercial transportation, as well as the collapse of the world financial system.

Bible Scripture proclaims that the present age will terminate in a surge of inconceivable destruction and violence that will climax at the return of Jesus Christ. In the New Testament alone, more than 300 verses refer to these events.

The Muslim Hadith (a compilation of the sacred stories of the Prophet Muhammad) states a violent, global event leaving the world “washed in blood” will signal the return of the Mahdi (The Promised One / The Twelfth Imam) who will then unify the entire world under Muslim Sharia law.

Living the American Nightmare?

By: MOTH

I awoke this morning thinking how much my priorities have changed in regards to self preservation-actual definition would be that of “family preservation.” A lesser example would be putting off buying that relatively inexpensive blu-ray player, mainly for the use of streaming movies. A major example would be considering trading in the sports car for a 4 wheel drive. My idea of the American dream has turned into “how do I survive the American Nightmare?” My life has definitely become one of preparedness; I was never one for instant self-gratification, but looking to the future has taken on new meaning. Dreams and goals have been replaced by thoughts of what will be most useful, most beneficial to survival, rather than what would be nice to just hang on the wall, be it big screen or wallpaper.

My involvement in politics has not changed, but my self awareness (or should I say, family awareness) has increased tenfold. My constant searching for news has made my mental and emotional burden heavier, but I will not choose to be blindly uniformed, as so many citizens do, mainly because of the way the political landscape has shifted so dramatically.

A comment from this blog that references a Reuters article demanded further introspection:

I think some little part of MY American dream died when I read that. Maybe it was just cardiac arrest and could be rescued, but I kinda doubt it.

I take liberty here to assuming the ‘cardiac’ arrest’ was caused by the reference to the “jobless borrower” being subsidized by the government. The definition of “subsidized by the government” in this case is strictly in reference to We The People, in other words, Us The Job-Working Taxpayer.

The government stops short of debt forgiveness, (although this is a concept being pushed by some left-wing blogs) instead, planning to assume the role of future slum-lord of the United States. How wonderful the concept of a unionized public worker plumber (insert required butt crack here) coming to unstop your toilet. Which begs the question-how long would the wait list be? Two weeks? Two months? Two years, maybe, or longer, while waiting for Congress to pass a budget?

To digress into a little brief history, I bought my first home (part of my personal American dream) when the housing bubble was beginning to burst. I was offered a loan of more than twice what I assumed.  Why didn’t I jump onto that big credit/big house band wagon? Because I did my homework. I asked myself: if others seemingly smarter than I, richer than I, were going belly up, what made me so smart? What made me think I wouldn’t end up parting ways with my American dream? Because what I found was simple math: (and also a lesson taught very young by the parentals,) NEVER BORROW MORE THAN YOU CAN AFFORD. I took the responsibility upon myself to know what I could handle and what I couldn’t BEFORE I signed on the dotted line. I took responsibility for my actions, so that if I failed, I had no one to blame but myself.

Even three and a half years ago, I looked to the future. I perceived this home I own now as an investment, and a legacy, not some garbage-strewn hole in the ground that will end up being bulldozed and subsidized to some oppressed person by the government. It may be my subconscious thoughts then will save me and my family some day. This home has equity and farmable property. Not a survivalist when I purchased it, but this place has acquired the meaning of self (and family) preservation on levels I cannot begin to describe. [It is probably important to note here that I had to work for it, it wasn’t just subsidized to me because I was OPPRESSED in some fashion.]

In recent years, the concept of “live and let live” has morphed into “shoving-it-down-your-throat-ism” under the guise of political correctness and tolerance for the lesser of us occupying space in society. Who fits the role of “lesser” are those who are currently being OPPRESSED.  It appears from this Reuters report, that the administration believes those without their wallpaper of choice are oppressed. If you check with the Reverend Al Sharpton, those without big screens are being oppressed as well.

The thought of tolerance and/or oppression reminds me of a current debate of the rainbow pride flag being flown with the American flag in Richmond, Virginia in front of the Federal Reserve Bank . Having witnessed Che Guevara t-shirts on fashion models in this country makes me wonder what comes next. This is a slippery slope of so called acceptance that means others will be clamoring for attention, and SOON. (A new buzz-line is forming in my brain: “Tolerance rears its ugly head!”) With the rise of the new Nazi party in Egypt, with the foundation of political correctness, I have to wonder if seeing a swastika below the Red, White, and Blue will be on the near horizon. Would that be the point that the American Dream then becomes the American Nightmare? (That may be the American Dream for some, depending upon whom you ask.) Seems hard to swallow?  Who would have guessed that someone in our government would have stated “Al-Jazeera is real news…”

I firmly believe that Americans cannot currently be propagandized at this time. But political correctness is assaulting our ability to have independent thought and manipulating our discussion. Political correctness, the gateway for tolerance, which is the substance of lifting the oppressed, is paving the way for future propagandizing.

Of course, I consider myself a fiscal and constitutional conservative. But if the truth be told, I am libertarian. With no current nor future plans of divorcing myself from that stance. (I had the good fortune of my parents ‘forcing’ me into being raised in an ethnically mixed neighborhood and high school. Even though I am constantly being perceived in the main-stream-media as an “evil capitalist” or a “bitter clinger,” I fly my libertarianism flag high.

So what flag do you see outside my humble American Dream home-owning accomplishment? The Stars and Stripes, of course.

And, the flag below it: “Don’t Tread on Me.”
